van-tomas.de 2010 Relaunch

I've updated my website with a new layout and some new features.
Currently, some parts don't play well at Internet Explorer but it's rather difficult to test things on a Linux machine because of missing support for M$ products.
The other thing that changed is the language: for the future I'd like to prefer to post my articles in english. I hope to reach a broader audience.
In the following article you'll find a - pretty technical - overview about the updates that happened to this site.
For the new layout I used a lot of new CSS3 techniques like the new @font-face rule. I think it's the most desired feature of web developer / designer but is currently only supported at current versions of Firefox, Safari, Opera and Google Chrome.
RGBa, transparent PNGs and rounded corners are also some new features I wanted to test out but currently lacking support for IE browsers. Please stay tuned as I strive to make this site looking good also in the latest versions of this browsers.
Please read "Push Your Web Design Into The Future With CSS3", a great article at Smashing Magazine if you like to know more about this great, forward-looking features.
The software behind the scenes, the CMS, is TYPO3 again. I think it offers the most flexible features and I feel so comfortable by now, so other solutions weren't be worth considering.
Some time soon there will also be a "Labs" section in which I want to do some experiments and present my own TYPO3 extensions.
The portfolio and photo sections of the old site were suspended as I had no time to fill this area with useful contents.
So, I hope you like the new site and layout, and I really appreciate every comment and criticism about it. Feel free to use the comment or contact form in the main menu to get in touch with me.
